The personal postcard, focused on academic achievement (rather than business achievement, which the logo part focuses on), Pantone 284 C will serve as the main background color, with white text and graphics (general scheme). Fonts will include Griffon (bold) for header, Menken Std Head Bold for subhead, and Menken Regular for Body copy. Thumbnails below:
The company is eponymously named, “Evan J. Atkins,” and specializes in making ideas become handcrafted wooden pieces of art. All of products are custom made to the client’s needs and of the highest quality and craftsmanship.
The audience is mainly represented by middle-aged suburban home-owners, in the mid to upper income range, who have a need for such household products, which range from handmade furniture (tables, dressers, desks, etc…), to cabinets, to trivets, mugs, and other such odds and ends.
The driving forces behind the success of the business and all sales include the general increase in the “buy local” sentiment, but more so a desire to have custom furniture that matches a pre-existing set, that is also crafted well and made to last forever, which is then finished with a natural wax that preserves the wood and enhances the beauty while remaining free of harmful chemicals.
The logo for this company needs to portray modernity, while also marrying the concept of old-time craftsmanship. Hence, two of the design sketches include iconic tools that are well associated with skilled craftsmanship. The colors, as well, visually portray an old-time concept of quality; slightly faded colors to communicate age, yet dependability and enduring products.
The company is named eponymously in order to show modern flair; though it does not feature a signature, which sends a visual message that the company is approachable by my clientele yet, like many fashion brands, including the designer's name in the branding implies attention to detail, quality, and modern creativity that the designer is willing to stake their reputation upon.
The logo type is as shown in the first sketch, "Real | Handcrafted | Wood" and the name, "Evan J. Atkins." The reasoning behind this is that the company's products are many and varied and there is no one word that describes them all, or the so-called genre of products. The logo-type is simple, memorable, and related to the products.
Please make sure your outline is written in the third person.
ReplyDeleteThe last logo idea is great! It's as if it could appear like it is burned into a piece of wood. Are the brackets tools used in wood working, because that is a great idea!
As far as the postcard - the first one has some dynamic and bold design elements to it - especially your name rotated; it's so unexpected and creative. Please make sure to have a text wrap with this postcard, too. Refer to the videos on Blackboard. Are you going to use a full body pic, or perhaps use one from the chest up to focus more on your? Unless your design intention was for a full body pic, than you may use it!
